Venus appears to move backward in the sky from the end of July through the beginning of September 2023.

During this time of roughly 40 days and 40 nights, she disappears and reemerges again in the elemental fire sign of Leo.

We, too, have the opportunity for renewal.

Each week we will visit a Garden of the Goddess corresponding to a zodiac sign in the Five Pointed Star of Venus:

Week 1: The Root System of the Rose
Activation and calibration to Venus myth and mysteries. Becoming acquainted with the Venus current. Nurturing and nourishing belly dance movement. The eroticism of aesthetics.

Week 2: The Garden of Contraries: Gemini
The language of dance/the dance of language. Accessing multiple aspects of our being. The tongue of the Trickster.

Week 3: The Garden of Embattlement: Aries
The entangled vines of Love and War. Sharpening claws. The heat of conflict.

Week 4: The Garden of the Witch: Capricorn
Loving the dirt. Movement as sorcery. Embodiment as a pathway to gnosis.

Week 5: The Garden of Thanatos: Scorpio
Releasing the old skin. The undulations of the serpent path. Creation and Destruction.

Week 6: The Garden of Sovereignty: Leo
Reclaiming our crown. Creative pleasure. Renewal.

Like Venus herself in her underground journey, this class series will focus on her inner mysteries. We will navigate the psychic underworld, following its winding path with mythopoetic story, movement and creative exploration.

Rather than being technique focused or imparting insights and facts, this class series aims to be an evocation.
An experience.
The aim is to guide you in making contact with something new and enlivening in alignment with the greater gifts of Venus-Aphrodite.

This class enthusiastically welcomes all genders, abilities, shapes and sizes.
You do not need to have a dance, poetry or astrology background or be officially “creative” or an Artist to participate.
Movement is central to this class, but full body movement is not required or necessary.
Each activity is modifiable to meet the needs of participants.
You are not required to appear on camera.
However, participation is expected with respect to personal abilities and needs, as it's not a show.
As we will explore, the Great Goddess was not limited to performative femininity (though she does not disown it and often thoroughly enjoys it). She is not limited to gender or sexual binaries. Neither is this class.
It is open to those who identify as women, and those who do not.
The class series has been created in a way that is trauma informed, yet extends an invitation to be curious about perceived limitations.
