The planet Neptune can act as both the creator and the revealer of illusions. He is the god of glamour, using sea-mists to hide and reveal. Neptune is shape-shifty and can create illusions both beautiful and nightmarish; a seductive veiled temple dancer which can draw us in, then morph into a crazy hideous devouring demon...that then turns into dust.
So again we get into what we are choosing to believe. It might be worth looking more closely at things before buying the hype. Is that a snake ready to strike, or is that a rope? It could be easy to react unconsciously and get psyched out.
At a high level of functioning, Neptune is about our angels of highest Truth and Compassion. When we tap into Neptune from the heart, we might get very different perspectives on truth than when we rely on the mind only. We need both mind and heart to work in tandem for balance and wisdom.
So, while Saturn the Reaper in Sagittarius might be cutting down beliefs that no longer serve, Neptune reminds us to have great compassion for ourselves as the revelations unfold. Neptune is the illusion, but paradoxically it is also the larger, connecting truth behind what we can perceive with the 5 senses.
In the Wizard of Oz, it is revealed that that the man behind the curtain was just a frightened bully; we all have someone like that within our own psyches, trying to control the way that we are seen by others; trying to appear more powerful or important than we feel; cut off from connecting with ourselves or others. When we can see that others who are behaving “badly” are really external reflections of our own sense of shortcoming, we can choose to condemn or to love. Neptune shows to us that the Universe is made out of Love, and that all other perception is a distortion.
The Sun and Venus begin to move deeper into this configuration as the week plays out. When these personal planets come into contact with the t-square, it “activates” it in our personal lives. The degree to which this happens depends on how our own natal charts are organized, but we're all going to feel this Grand Cross!
Jupiter and the Dragon's Head complete the Cross, and this is where we can tune into to our Higher Selves. They are transiting Virgo now, the sign of daily practice, devotions, service, diet and work. Virgo has to do with the purity of intention behind what we do most often. Not what we SAY we do, but what we actually spend our time on. We can get some relief from the Cross by paying attention to how our bodies feel. When we are out of synch with out True Selves, our bodies signal that with bad feelings, which can eventually possibly progress into ill health. Conflicts with others are another signal, as this signals issues with our mental/emotional health. Virgo invites us to create a stronger sense of Mind-Body-Spirit integration, and recommends that as a remedy!
