Here's something that we do to each other in relationships: We seem to want to enjoy the positive aspects of those we love, and condemn the so-called negative. Perfectly natural, of course, as most of us like things that feel good, and avoid things that cause discomfort.
But here's the thing: this is a dualistic Universe. (Or at least it appears that way, but I wont get into that too much.) Anyway, the super powers that we enjoy so much about one another automatically come with a shadow side. That's just the way this goes. The more wonderful the positive quality, the more "challenging" the shadow. So, for instance, that amazing artist who is so spontaneous and spiritual is also an unstable "flake". That powerful manifestor is also an exploitative literalist. That dependable reliable guy is boring and suffocating. That exciting girl is crazy. That intellectual superstar doesn't want to go out and do anything "real", like, ever. That passionate, in-touch-with-feelings person is having another weepy temper-tantrum...
So, as the Chiron opposition to the Shiva/Shakti (Mars/Venus) union continues, lets consider how it might be that the "difficult" qualities of our loved ones (and ourselves!) are just as precious and important as the fun ones. We are in Samhain-Scorpio season, when the shadow aspects of everything are revealed and honored. Asking anyone to not have a shadow side is not only unloving, its INSANE. It can't happen. And shadow is just a matter of interpretation anyway. Just who's shadow is being activated in any given situation? One person's demon is another's angel.
