The effects of Sun conjunct Neptune last through the early part of the week, and the effects of Sun square Saturn begin to increase. Faster moving, high importance planets like the Sun can activate the energies of the slower moving, deeper acting configurations as they move through. This means that the Neptune/Saturn square is being activated, and with it the clash between inspiration, delusion and cold hard "reality" as it is perceived from time/space/5 senses perspective.
The Neptune/Saturn square is a long term aspect, off and on all year, and designed to challenge our old belief systems and invite us to question reality. The two planets are now slowly moving closer; Chiron/Dragon's Tail and Jupiter/Dragon's Head also play a role in this picture, bringing with them healing crises/opportunities. We are asked to open up to higher self, and to decide whether we are going to choose to trust in old beliefs that perhaps keep us going in the same circles, or to explore and open to some new, inspired territory.
We are also approaching eclipse season, starting March 8. This is going to bring some big change! Eclipses are both reset buttons and wild cards. However disruptive, they may be just what the doctor ordered, helping us see via crisis what it is that is really hanging about unconsciously. That old stuck problem that's been plaguing us for years might just get dislodged---but generally not without a fight to keep it there by the ego effect! Truly, we can seem to be our own worst enemies, but its only because we believe on some deeper level that its in our best interest to keep ourselves oppressed. And probably at one point it DID make sense, as it seemed to ensure our survival. But things change, and we can continue to awaken.
Anxiety or an upwelling of grief (old or new) may be a side effect of this transiting influence. Today (Monday), the Moon makes a conjunction to Scorpio Mars in shadow. This could be an energy boost for some, but for others, it could also be an irritation, given the other energies. In this case, it can be helpful to find things that soothe the spirit.
So, yeah. That Full Moon was a doozy. I actually got some sleep for the first time in a few nights. The Luna energies are calming down a bit, and for those of us who are sensitive to Her tides, this may be bliss!
Perhaps we are ALL feeling sensitive now, as Sol moves closer to Neptune to become exact on Feb 28th. Red wine and blood, anyone?
Well, Neptune-Sun can be associated with Dionysus, the god of ritual madness. He travels with a group of charming mad-women called the Maenads. He is the part of us that needs wildness, release, passion, abandon. He's the guy who makes us want to have a few too many glasses of vino. Or sangria ("bleeding").
Dionysus brings a relaxed state of bliss when he gets his due of decadence. When structure and order are over done, he brings his shadow side--upset, destruction, fury. If he gets too pent up, he can incite the Maenads to violence. In this case, perhaps there has not been enough time devoted to our dreams, our true inspirations, our passions. It sometimes comes out when we've been treated unfairly and for too long. The Maenads counter repression and over-control.
Nietzsche had much to say on the topic of Dionysus. He said that he represents the irrational and unrestricted life force, while Apollo, the Sun, represents order and structured creativity. So, it could be said at this conjunction that we are called to balance these aspects within ourselves.
At any rate, there will be a tendency toward sensitivity. Along with the bigger picture backdrop of slower moving planets involving the Pisces-Virgo axis, this is a conjunction which brings a serious wave of the Water element. It flushes out old stuck patterns and disintegrates constrictive armor. It'll do its work to free us from that which causes our Light to seem dulled down. The trick is to open, allow, cry your head off if you need to. Dance ecstatically (we are ALL dancers). Write poems. Say things that don't make "sense". Paint with your fingers. Paint your body. Drink wine and eat donuts. Ritualize it. Enjoy it.

"Full Moon in Virgo. This photo was taken after ritual. The fragmented glass of my cell camera screen made shimmers in the image from the light of the candle-- a reflection of the medicine of Pisces/Virgo -- their interplay of disintegration/integration. Virgo is to me the sign of the Priestess; Virgin in the true sense of self-possessed, whole, and always experiencing the world as new... and, as eternal. Luna opposes Neptune, and Sol moves toward a conjunction. I began the day at the Sea, set the intention to open to all the I AM; I danced next to the singing waves. As Lord Sun sets on this day, I look forward to seeing Lady Luna's bright and beautiful face illuminating the land."
At 1:20pm ET today we have a Full Moon in Virgo! This one is packing a punch! Luna is in Virgo opposing Sol in Pisces. Virgo can be highly self-critical, and so we need Pisces compassion to balance it, reminding us of heart and meaning. Virgo can get super caught up in the details, forgetting the big picture. What really matters in the end?
Virgo asks us if we are integrated, or, if we are in integrity. This Full Moon might have a way of illuminating ways in which we are not, showing us where we might get better aligned. Maybe we are in medium-integrity, and just in need of a tune up.
Jupiter in Virgo conjuncts the North node, making an opposition to Chiron to Pisces. This, too highlights the Virgo-Pisces axis of service and devotion. In the longer term trajectory, Saturn comes to make a T-square with these two poles from Sagittarius, challenging us to clearly define our priorities. To what am I willing to devote myself entirely? Why am I here? What do I serve? Usually, its that which we enjoy doing most that is of most service.
Shorter term, the energy hits a peak. Some of us will feel the stress. Don't expect logic or facts to win the day today. And that's ok!! This lunation opposes Neptune, so confused thoughts and feelings can be prevalent. Suddenly we seem to be plunged into an ocean of feeling, an alchemical solutio, intended to flush out that which is not a match to our highest good. It can seem like a drowning, but it is intended to get us to FEEL. Like the long lost artifacts of an old shipwreck, washed up to the surface. It is intended to show us where we need more love, where we most need healing and compassion.
The water element continues to play out its powerful medicine as the Sun moves into conjunction with Neptune throughout the week. Mix this with the Mars in Scorpio shadow, and we have some volatile stuff! Again, things can feel confused. Con= "with" + Fusion = "together, joined". That's a lot of together-ness! This is Higher Self bringing you closer, asking for us to "melt into" and allow for more of who we actually are. We'll suffer if we resist and insist on separation from Divinity. The water washes away resistance.
The image today is from a personal post. A friend who saw it pointed out that it had aspects of the Hermit card in the tarot, which corresponds to Virgo. I add it as an expression of today's energies.
Mars is in his shadow period. This is a time of facing your greatest fears, and make some important decisions.
Mars in Scorpio is about the most hottest-est things for you. Now, in shadow, he goes into the darkest heart of his traditional home sign. He is gearing up to go retrograde on April 17th, at which time he will begin traveling back to this place in the zodiac to "check in". What (or who?) do we need to get down and dirty with in order to be fully alive?
But before starts his backwards journey, he will stop and then sit on Fixed Star Antares at 9 Sagittarius. Sidereally, this is the heart of the Scorpion. Antares is a bold, beautiful, red star, and is associated with the Angelic realm as Uriel, "Fire of God". So, we are dealing with our lowliest, darkest, most formidable demons, and at the same time connecting upward to the Celestials. Time to strrrrrretch! The Serpent yearns upward toward the Veil.
Antares is said to mean "The rival of Mars". So the plot thickens. We might have a battle on our hands. Maybe that's not such a bad thing. Conflict can be one of the quickest ways to enlightenment, to seeing our yet unknown selves in the Other. It's tension and friction that creates erotic energy, and that is just what the doctor ordered!
This is a time of really meaning it. If its not a "HELL YES", then its a "no". Scorpio Mars asks, "Do I want to merge with this? Do I want to have this in my bed? Would I take any action necessary to have this?".
Mars in Scorpio penetrates the deepest part of who we are. When he begins his backward motion, he starts to go inward. Now, as he enters that shadow period, we are compelled to make some decisions on where we wish to direct our greatest powers. If you could only choose one thing, one point of focus, one thing to do before you die, hold one frequency as energetic home base, to achieve your greatest desire....what would that be?
This requires great honesty and bravery. But it means everything. It's the passionate nature of Scorpio, its life and death nature, that reveals to us the very reason we are alive.
In alignment with the aggressive nature of Mars in Scorpio, I am going to challenge you to not just read this, and then go about your day half conscious. Get out of your head. Feel your body. Feel what wants to course through it. What energy feels the most outrageously amazingly alive? Feel into it, don't think about it, or say "yeah, I wish my _________ (< insert spouse or lover or family member) would hear this". No, YOU hear this. YOU.
P.S. with all the excitement, I almost forgot to mention: Lucid Dreaming 101 webinar is TONIGHT! Sign up and join us on the astral!!! :)
Luna makes her way into Gemini for the next two days, creating a more communicative mood. This can be a good day for business, as the Moon can sense into the tone what's what, and Gemini has to do with commerce.
Monday could also be a day with some surprise communications, as the Moon makes a trine to unpredictable Mercury in Aquarius. This energy supports the creation of new ideas and innovations.
That's the more mundane stuff, anyway. In the background, there are MAJOR workings at play between the planets. really pushing us to embrace change. It's all very exciting! Chiron opposite Jupiter/North Node invites us to get more acquainted with Higher Self. There really is no Self separate from you, but yet, from the perspectives that we hold as humans, it can seems that way. Usually we spend our time "arguing" with Higher Self by resisting her/his main way of communicating with us: the way that we feel. We sometimes shove feelings down, trying to be outsmart the Universe. It can seem like a tremendous risk to follow our resonance and our joy, like its just bound to headed for doom. Joy and pleasure are dangerous, aren't they? They just get us into trouble!... Joy and pleasure will happen some time down the road when I've worked hard and long enough to deserve it. Surely I will trust it then...
Chiron has to do with our wounds. In Pisces, compassion and inspired creativity is the healing balm, with Virgo integrity being part of the homeopathic remedy. Pisces asks us to open our hearts see what happens. There is no promise that there will be no pain, because pain is part of what it feels like to be alive. But what we decide to believe about pain--and even pleasure-- what they mean...that is where we can really suffer. We come to conclusions when there should be more opening.
Jupiter is about belief. It can be hard to believe for those of us who live on this plane that resonance is good. We really think that we have to constantly apply ourselves to the perceived problems in what has already manifested...even though it is old news, based on where we've already been energetically, and doing so just generates more of the same. I know that I get caught up in that as well, even though in my observations and practice, I see that it does exactly what I know it will--things go downwards, because I am basing my chosen feeling tone on what I'm seeing instead of what I am creating. We're all learning!
See if you can pay attention to what has resonance today. What turns you on? What's on your mind? If such things conflict with what you think you should be doing, so be it. We are entering an era where things are accelerating fast. Those of us who are on board are changing rapidly. Contracts that once made sense...maybe even a year, a month, a week ago...might not today. Chiron is Pisces invites us to bring love and light to where we have guilt or shame. Jupiter in Virgo helps us stay in integrity (integrated with all that we are; held in love). It's both a personal and collective process. The choice you make to heal and release yourself is perhaps the best service to this world you can possibly give.
So...First I'd like to say that I would love to hear from you in the comments today! I would like to know how you are experiencing this time after the New Moon. What new perspectives are you holding, if any? What would you most like to see happen? Maybe there are questions that I haven't thought to ask!
We have some supportive geometry going on right now as Jupiter/Node trines Venus/Mercury, and connects over to the Moon and Chiron. Scorpio Mars also gets into the mix to liven things up. We probably have learned some new things about ourselves over the last week, and now we have a chance to integrate it, and then choose how to use it. What is it within you that really wants to flower, to open to more life and vibrancy?
If you're like me at all, you sometimes feel afraid. And then maybe cover it up with all sorts of stuff that then becomes habit. And then you forget who the hell you are for a moment! (Or many moments?) We've all been hurt, sometimes hurt badly. Who wants that again? But to live is to FEEL, to keep going toward what feels alive and passionate. It's being awkward and looking like an ass sometimes. As a dancer, I think of it as learning a new dance piece...its probably not going to look "good" the first time around. In fact, I'm probably going to lose my balance, or turn the wrong direction, or have an unfortunate encounter with another object or person in the room. I'm using my body in different ways then before, training new muscles and making new neurological pathways. It is vulnerable and awkward...and yet, that's the fun! The newness is the aliveness.
The beginner's mind opens up space for more, for the holy ZERO of all possibility that is the invitation of the Sacred Fool. We did just enter the Chinese New Year of the Fire Monkey...I mean, what would a Fire Monkey do??? So much to be curious about!

I write to you from an Amtrak train heading back home from the Occult Humanities Conference at New York University. I had a great weekend meeting many new people and seeing friends, attending amazing presentations, and being in the presence of the work of magickal artists long admired. So inspiring! The train to Boston from NYC seems to be chugging along pretty well so far, despite the blizzard-like conditions that are forecasted to continue. It's a beautiful sight from my window! The internet has been cutting in and out, so in addition to the travel, there's been a delay in posting today. But here we are...
And its the New Moon! This one is electric, though it should probably be said that New Moons are energetic low points in some ways. Though it is a new beginning, it is also when the Moon does not have a great deal of energy. So the emotional pull is inward, bringing the conscious Will together with the unconscious emotional interior. It's a great moment to take a pause and notice your thoughts and feelings, seeing where you might be on automatic pilot. Maybe you can more consciously direct where things go. Or, maybe you need to just cry or have a fit. We're entitled to just be where we are.
You could experience conflicting drives today, as the Aquarius Sun/Moon squares Scorpio Mars. Or, conflict with someone else (same thing?). Rationality vs. Passion. Mental clarity vs. Emotional complexity. Distance vs. Intimacy. Friends vs. Lovers.
There are other points of view to consider, and some motivations can be hidden.

Things are about to get really juicy. Are you ready?
Good thing that today is a kind of a stasis point. The Sun makes a harmonious aspect with Saturn, giving us a user-friendly structure within which to work. This is not hard-ass Saturn, but rather a you-can-do-this Wise Guide with his lamp lighting the Dark.
Later in the week, Venus makes a conjunction with Pluto, and then a square to Uranus. This is where things get exciting. We are invited to release all that keeps us walled off from Love.
You are loved 100% absolutely by this Universe. You and your Higher Self are connected by Love; you are One. There is not one part of you that is not made of Love and Light.
Anything within you that argues against what I just said is what is keeping you from Love. That's the part of you that needs it the most. There is no one and nothing in this Universe that is keeping you from experiencing Love.
If you are having trouble with this, please don't use this as an excuse to beat yourself up. Or to give up. (Or dismiss. Or get cynical....) It's not time to blame yourself to anyone else, though you can certainly honor and love any emotion that comes up. For instance, anger can be seen as a passionate commitment to giving a shit about yourself; grief can be viewed as heart opening and aliveness. Any kind of strong emotion is a good signal that you are moving out of habitual response. Let it happen!!! See it as an exciting invitation toward opening to Love. To open to everything that you are. Every little bit counts, and can lead to the next exciting invitation.
Venus-Pluto is about extreme, all consuming, there-is-no-death kind of Love. It's a love that needs no permission or clearance, no agreement with another, no neediness or dependence or thumbs ups from anyone or anything. Though it can be experienced in the form of passionate union with another (or not), it is within you that this Love resides. (And the more that you grant yourself your innate right to be loved unconditionally, the more likely it is that you will have this experience with another, too, if that is your wish. Just sayin'. We're all learning, here in Earth School! )
