Here's something that we do to each other in relationships: We seem to want to enjoy the positive aspects of those we love, and condemn the so-called negative. Perfectly natural, of course, as most of us like things that feel good, and avoid things that cause discomfort.
But here's the thing: this is a dualistic Universe. (Or at least it appears that way, but I wont get into that too much.) Anyway, the super powers that we enjoy so much about one another automatically come with a shadow side. That's just the way this goes. The more wonderful the positive quality, the more "challenging" the shadow. So, for instance, that amazing artist who is so spontaneous and spiritual is also an unstable "flake". That powerful manifestor is also an exploitative literalist. That dependable reliable guy is boring and suffocating. That exciting girl is crazy. That intellectual superstar doesn't want to go out and do anything "real", like, ever. That passionate, in-touch-with-feelings person is having another weepy temper-tantrum...
So, as the Chiron opposition to the Shiva/Shakti (Mars/Venus) union continues, lets consider how it might be that the "difficult" qualities of our loved ones (and ourselves!) are just as precious and important as the fun ones. We are in Samhain-Scorpio season, when the shadow aspects of everything are revealed and honored. Asking anyone to not have a shadow side is not only unloving, its INSANE. It can't happen. And shadow is just a matter of interpretation anyway. Just who's shadow is being activated in any given situation? One person's demon is another's angel.
We are headed into the perfection of the Full Moon in Taurus. It happens at 8:05 AM Eastern Time on Tuesday. This is a Venus-ruled lunation, and so it is Aphrodite-Venus who can be honored at this time.
Venus is currently transiting the sign of Virgo, meeting Mars in an exact conjunction next week. However, the energies of these mythical lovers meeting is heightened by this Full Moon. Jupiter in the mix tells us that this is a time of consciousness expansion, emotional integration, and meaning in the arena of Sex and Love. It's a time to open to experience. We are invited to be authentic.
Wounded Healer Chiron is also involved in this picture via opposition. Oppositions are challenging aspects, and they bring out the dual nature of this plane of reality. This can mean that as we become more conscious of Love, we also simultaneously flush to the surface that which is contrary to it. As we wish to be loved, we might notice and focus on that which we think is ugly or unloveable about ourselves. This is not a failure of Love, but rather a beautiful opportunity to give Love to that which is in need of it. If we can't quite muster super-appreciation for those aspects of ourselves that we have trouble loving (most of us can't right away), we can still acknowledge that "this is a part of me that needs to be loved". Even that simple act of acknowledgment sends medicine.
Here's another cool thing about the astrology for the next couple of days: Mercury makes a brilliant opposition aspect to Uranus. While that might encourage those of us who shy away from matters of the Heart in favor of the intellect to hide up up in the head until all of this Love shit has blown over, I'm going to say this: At this time, if you are able to get centered in the heart, THAT is when the most inspired ideas and inventions are going to emerge. (Full moon in) Taurus rules the throat, which holds the chakra that connects the Heart and Mind, and is the truth-articulation center. It's the union of the Masculine and Feminine that creates the world.
So we've got this Pluto square Mercury thing coming up...like, in a day. Thats means that its already in progress. The Messenger God is at odds...or lets say he is in "dynamic relationship"...with the Lord of the Underworld. So maybe there is something that needs to be said and we ain't tryin' to hear it.
"Don't shoot the messenger" can apply here. But, that said, it might also be good to look deeply at motivations that could be behind what is said now, particularly if we're finding that new information throws us out of balance in some way. It could be that there is more to the story.
This is a great time for any investigative research. We can also use this to do deep self inquiry, and to delve more deeply into the Mysteries. We are, after all, heading more deeply into the time of year when the Veil is thinnest. This is a time for remembering and honoring the ancestors, and those who have passed to the other side.
Lilith: the dark feminine. Special Reading.
When I did the Dark Goddess special readings for you, I received most questions and requests for more information about Lilith. So I'd like to offer another special reading, this time focusing specifically on Black Moon Lilith in the personal chart! On sale at a special price just through Sunday, Oct 25.
Each of us has Black Moon Lilith in our astrological charts somewhere. This tells us that each and every one of us is to experience this deep, dark, seductive and, for some, scary energy someplace in our personal lives!
Lilith in the chart represents the deepest levels of intimacy available--with our own true nature, as well as with others and with the Universe itself. Where Lilith lives in the chart is the juncture where we might experience both fear and longing, and she shows us more about acceptance/rejection dynamics in our personal lives. She is the instinctual shadow feminine, and holds a key to great healing, creative forces, and power. She is the "exiled" Shakti energy that many are collectively craving.; associated with the Serpent aspect of the Goddess, she shows us more about how to experience our coiled life force energies and awaken. This reading will focus on Black Moon Lilith's placement in the chart.
According to Wikipedia, "in Sanskrit, anahata means 'unhurt, unstruck and unbeaten'." This is a good time to sink into the Anahata chakra at the heart center and listen to the intelligence that lives there.
The symbol for this center is a six pointed star, made of two triangles, representing the union of the masculine and feminine. As Venus makes a conjunction with Jupiter/Mars and opposes Neptune, we are invited to feel into this balance of energies, the union of Shiva and Shakti. Wounded Healer Chiron is also at the edge of this configuration, telling us with his presence that there is great healing potential here and now.
Even though--or especially because--the astrology right now is so complex and rich, I am feeling a simple Oracle today. Breathe into your heart center. Air is communication; the ebb and flow of the breath an inquiry. Pull up from the ground, and pull down from the sky. Let it meet in your heart. Notice any restriction, and let it melt if you can. See what happens.
Luna in Scorpio over the next two days invites us to really feel into our emotional lives. So often we think that we need to "figure out" what's going on for us, but actually the medicine is more of a "feeling into" approach. "Figuring" can keep us going around in circles in the mind, keeping us out of the deeper water. Often there's nothing to figure out at all; the answers are right there in the body and heart. We just just have to let go and lean in to ourselves, instead of away.
Relaxing can be a challenge as Mars and Jupiter fuse together in Virgo, the sign of nervous energy. Virgo lets us know via our physical state what kind of energetic condition we are in. Muscle tension could be a thing right now, and we might do well to check in with our breath through out the day. Maybe try something new; inspired action -- even if it "turns out" to be an epic "failure"-- is much more fun and expansive than anxious tension.
Venus continues to square Saturn, and so relationship, sexuality, and self-worth issues may be coming up to be managed. We may feel like we don't have the "luxury" of relaxing and softening into a connected heart space. "I don't have the time," or "It never works out anyway," or "I've tried that before, and look how that went," or "that's not realistic." OK, fair enough. That voice has a place, too. Feel free to take a little vacation from positivity if you need to; sometimes it can help to have an air punching temper tantrum to let off some steam and say our piece. The horse will be there when you are ready to get back on.
Tonight is the New Moon in Libra! It will happen at 8:06pm Eastern Time (adjust to your time zone accordingly please).
Libra is the sign of relationship. Relationship is more more than sexual or romantic attachment, of course. "Relationship" is really a verb. It is the state in which we are relating, which is pretty much all of the time! We relate to the people in our neighborhood, our spouses, our children, our colleagues, our cat or dog, the planet, the local beach or forest, etc. And, we relate to ourselves.
This New Moon is a great time to reflect on, and set intention for, how we would like our relationships to look. Most of our relationships are a direct reflection of how we are relating to ourselves. This is great news, because we are therefore supplied with a constant mirror letting us know where we are at!
The best relationships of all kinds happen when we are being ourselves completely. We attract just the right people, and those who are not in alignment with who we are get the freedom to go on their own path. So...here is a question for you today: what would you do if you weren't afraid? What would you have done 5 minutes ago? Last week? What would you do right now? Explore. Play. Imagine.
